New Learner Driving Test

Theory Test Preparation

Preparing for the theory test and hazard perception test can take time and effort. The theory test will be taken on a touchscreen computer and you have a total of 57 minutes to complete. The pass score is 43/50 questions answered correctly during the test.

The hazard perception test is a CGI computer based test where you will be shown 14 virtual video clips. Each clip lasts about a minute and will contain various types of hazards, such as vehicles, pedestrians and varying road conditions. 

In order to pass this part of this test to need to respond when you see a hazard developing that may result in the driver having to take some action, such as changing speed or direction.

The pass mark is 44 out of 75 and you can score up to 5 marks on each hazard.

It can be taken at a number of locations and we can help you arrange this if needed.

The new Learner Driver Test started on 4th December 2017. Following sat-nav, bay parking and pulling over, reversing, then setting off from the right hand side of the road are just some of the main changes implemented.

Top tip:

There will be one "Tell me" question at the start of your test and one "Show me" question the examiner will ask you whilst you're driving.
